Kenny Smith was an avid horseshoe player who
played regularly at the pits outside of
the Hammond Bar in Hammond, Minnesota....
Kenny passed away on
March 15, 1996 from brain cancer, within months of his diagnosis. His family
and friends began a horseshoe tournament in his honor to raise money for local families dealing with cancer. Since then, the Kenny Smith Memorial Events for Cancer has given away thousands of dollars in charitable contributions to families in Southeastern Minnesota, to help them with whatever they need. Some have used their money to pay utilities or hospital bills, doctor fees, parking costs and medical supplies. Some have used the money to go on vacation.
The committee for The Kenny Smith Memorial Events for Cancer

we can make the battle just a little bit easier.
We sponsor 2 main events each year.
These tournaments usually include door prizes, a bake sale, silent auctions, raffles for prizes, raffles for meat, a food bar and in the summer, our now-famous Toilet Seat Toss, following the tournament.
This year we have added a Texas Hold 'em Tournament to our Snow Shoes Event and have placed raffles for Valentines Baskets in three local businesses.
